On Free Products of Completely Regular Semigroups
The free product CR S i of an arbitrary family of disjoint completely simple semigroups fS i g i2I , within the variety CR of completely regular semigroups, is described by means of a theorem generalizing that of Ka dourek and Poll ak for free completely regular semigroups. A notable consequence of the description is that all maximal subgroups of CR S i are free, except for those in the factors...
متن کاملThe Structure of Completely Regular Semigroups 213
The principal result is a construction of completely regular semigroups in terms of semilattices of Rees matrix semigroups and their translational hulls. The main body of the paper is occupied by considerations of various special cases based on the behavior of either Green's relations or idempotents. The influence of these special cases on the construction in question is studied in considerable...
متن کاملCanonical Varieties of Completely Regular Semigroups
Completely regular semigroups CR are regarded here as algebras with multiplication and the unary operation of inversion. Their lattice of varieties is denoted by L.CR/. Let B denote the variety of bands and L.B/ the lattice of its subvarieties. The mapping V → V ∩ B is a complete homomorphism of L.CR/ onto L.B/. The congruence induced by it has classes that are intervals, say VB = [VB ;V B] for...
متن کاملPseudovariety joins involving J -trivial semigroups and completely regular semigroups
J. Rhodes asked during the Chico conference in 1986 for the calculation of joins of semigroup pseudovarieties. This paper proves that the join J∨V of the pseudovariety J of J -trivial semigroups and of any 2-strongly decidable pseudovariety V of completely regular semigroups is decidable. This problem was proposed by the first author for V = G, the pseudovariety of finite groups.
متن کاملSemigroups, Rings, and Markov Chains
We analyze random walks on a class of semigroups called ``left-regular bands.'' These walks include the hyperplane chamber walks of Bidigare, Hanlon, and Rockmore. Using methods of ring theory, we show that the transition matrices are diagonalizable and we calculate the eigenvalues and multiplicities. The methods lead to explicit formulas for the projections onto the eigenspaces. As examples of...
